Valentino Lazaro has underwent and passed a medical with Newcastle United and now only official confirmation of the transfer is required according to a report from Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Austrian defender has already put pen to paper on a contract with the Premier League outfit who he will join on loan for the remainder of the 2019/20 season at a cost of €1.5 million.

As part of the deal, Newcastle have an option to turn his stay with the club into a permanent one for a reported €23.5 million.

Lazaro leaves Inter just six months after arriving at the club in a circa €20 million deal from Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin.

The 23-year-old made just 11 appearances across all competitions since arriving at the Nerazzurri and just four of those appearances came as a starter.

He should get far more game time at St James’ Park though due to full backs Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett both sidelined for the rest of the season.
