In an interview with Sky Sports Austria, Valentino Lazaro’s agent Max Hagmayr has spoken on his client’s decision to join Newcastle United over RB Leipzig.

“The decision was not an easy one to make and it was nothing against Leipzig but it was made rather due to the opportunity to play in the Premier League,” he explained.

Inter and Newcastle have agreed terms over a loan with option to buy deal for the 23-year-old Austrian international defender.

Newcastle will pay Inter a reported €1.5 million to loan the former RB Salzburg player for the remainder of the season and have an option to turn his stay at St James’ Park for a sum of €23.5 million.

Lazaro joined Inter in a circa €20 million deal this past Summer from Bundelsiga outfit Hertha Berlin but was unable to cement a regular starting spot in Antonio Conte’s side.

He has made 11 appearances across all competitions this season for Inter, four of which have come as a starter. In 513 minutes, he has tallied two assists.
