Roma have not given up on the possibility of being able to sign Matteo Politano from Inter according to a report in today’s print edition of Il Messaggero.
Roma had reached a deal with Inter which would have seen them acquire Politano in a swap deal that would have sent Leonardo Spinazzola in the opposite direction but that deal collapsed at the last minute when Inter tried to change the terms.
Despite the collapse, Roma have maintained their interest in the 26-year-old and are awaiting to see if the former Sassuolo player will accept a move to Napoli.
Inter and Napoli are understood to have agreed upon an 18 month with obligation to buy deal for Politano, a deal that could also see Napoli striker Fernando Llorente included as a makeweight.
The 34-year-old Spaniard would be used as a back-up option at Inter to Romelu Lukaku and his arrival would rule out Olivier Giroud from joining the club.
