Inter midfielder Borja Valero spoke about his career and the Nerazzurri squad in an interview in tomorrow’s matchday programme, with his words being noted by Italian media outlet FcInterNews.

“When I was a child at Christmas, I received an official ball from my family, I didn’t play with it for fear of ruining it, then it became my life companion when I realised my dream. Respect and sacrifice are my basic rules. I have always been convinced that work pays off in the end and this year has been a demonstration of that for me. In a player’s career determination is essential, but for me it’s always been fundamental to have fun on the pitch.”

The 35-year-old Spaniard spoke about his role.

“I’m passionate about my role, it’s like the fundamental preparation of a kitchen. In midfield the dream of the game begins, I like to create for my teammates, a bit like it was done on the children’s’ pitches.”

He then discussed the current Nerazzurri squad.

“This is a healthy squad. We have fun, but we also train hard and well. Conte has put his stamp on us, we all follow him.”

Finally, Valero spoke about Inter.

“Inter, to me, is something great, you realise when you live in it. They have fans all over the world and yet when you’re inside you feel like you’re living in a family.”
