Outgoing Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen will officially sign for Inter at the start of next week, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 27-year-old Dane is expected to arrive in Milan even as early as Monday, if not Tuesday, to finalise the agreement and sign the contract. Tottenham refused to give a discount for him, with the Nerazzurri eventually proposing an offer worth €20 million. Both clubs have agreed to delay the announcement until after this weekend so they can focus on their games, namely Spurs’ FA Cup clash against Southampton and the Nerazzurri’s league meeting with Cagliari.

Eriksen’s willingness to move to Milan was decisive in the deal, the report continues. Last summer Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio began their work into signing the Dane and by December the interest intensified. When the Milanese side realised that only French side Paris Saint Germain had approached Eriksen and his agent, they decided to make the push for his signature.

PSG offered more money, the report highlights, but Eriksen wasn’t a fan of the French league. Instead, the Dane wanted to move to Italy and play in Serie A. Inter are also fighting for the Scudetto in a more exciting title race compared to the one in France.
