Inter’s acquisition of Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen is an exception to their transfer policy, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The report details how the 27-year-old Dane has been signed to help make the difference in the Nerazzurri’s title race against Juventus and Lazio. The player is at the peak of his career and so is unlikely to be sold at a profit by the Milanese side. Eriksen works best as a trequartista, closer to the goal where he can take a shot or play in a teammate.
Coach Antonio Conte must now decide how best to deploy the Dane, the report continues. He could decide to play Eriksen alongside Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella in a midfield three, but he could instead decide to change the formation to a 3-4-1-2. Conte will also have to figure out how to get the best out of both Eriksen and Stefano Sensi.
The gap with Juventus has now really narrowed, the report highlights. Great market decisions by the Nerazzurri have allowed them to strengthen their squad and increase the 50-year-old Italian coach’s options.
