In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, former Inter defender Taribo West has shared his delight following compatriot Victor Moses’ transfer to Inter.

“I follow the team almost every week. The club is building a strong team. Victor Moses was needed, he will be able to make a difference,” he began.

“He will bring experience and mentality. He has worn the shirts of other big teams in the past and won trophies at Chelsea whilst Conte was in charge. It is no coincidence that Conte wanted Moses. His purchase is good news for Nigeria and the African continent as a whole.”

Next he was asked if he thinks Inter have what it takes to win the Serie A title.

“Of course and I’m not just saying that as a fan, I really believe it. The 1-1 draw with Lecce was a bump along the road but it has been a super season for Inter.

“It is a shame about what happened in the Champions League but there is still the Europa League. The team must be convinced that they can replicate when we won in Paris in 1998.”

West, who made 42 caps for Nigeria, then shared his opinion on who is better between Mauro Icardi and Romelu Lukaku.

“They are both strong players but I choose Romelu. He is a world class footballer, he has scored an avalanche of goals in his career. He can be decisive for the title.”

In conclusion, he was asked if he had any regrets about his time with Inter: “My only regret is being unable to win Serie A. If certain things hadn’t happened, perhaps in 1998 we would have won.”
