In an interview with Italian radio station TMW Radio earlier on today, former Inter and Italian international centre back Riccardo Ferri has shared his views on Inter’s newest signing, Christian Eriksen.

Inter completed the signing of the 27-year-old Danish international from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon with him signing for the club on a four and a half year deal.

The former Ajax player has become the third addition to Inter’s squad this month and Ferri is convinced that he can make a big impact.

“Inter have bought a quality and versatile player, who can play in several different roles. Conte and the club know already where to play him.

“Inter are growing both in terms of quality and depth. Conte is a fundamentalist and I do not think he will change his system and rightly so given the results already achieved.

“Eriksen can play on either the left or right side of the midfield. He can play a key role at set pieces and in terms of providing assists. He can make the team take a qualitative leap.”

Ferri, who spent all barring two years of his 15 year playing career as an Inter player, then went on to discuss Inter’s recent poor form with them having drawn four of their last six league matches.

“Inter have also been like this under other types of coaches. What Inter have done this year is impressive. They are still working a lot, even on the transfer market. I would not worry now. The club have shown us that there is ambition there.”

He was then asked if he thinks Inter’s three man defence is a limitation for them, as has been suggested recently by legendary Italian football manager Arrigo Sacchi.

“It is true but to be critical of Conte’s team now, it would not be very nice. To do well in the Champions League Inter need to improve but they also have to have the players who can raise the bar. The results so far have been excellent. Inter are building and I think we will see different tactics next year.”
