Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium project has finally began to move a little forward as the clubs show that they are willing to pay for the surface rights of the area in order to redevelop it and build their new stadium, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the current idea of the Milanese sides’ is to totally demolish the third ring of the San Siro, the one that is considered unsafe and out of date. The San Siro will then be redeveloped into a cathedral for non-professional sports activities, with yesterday’s meeting being entirely focused on the details and economic feasibility of such a plan.

The verdict of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage is expected by March, the report continues. The decision will be based around what can and can’t be knocked down in the redevelopment of the stadium, which is almost 100 years old.
