Costacurta: “Eriksen Didn’t Play As Everyone Expected, Esposito Didn’t Do Well But Can Give Inter A Lot In The Future”

Speaking in Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia’s studios today, legendary Italian footballer Alessandro Costacurta shared his views on some Inter players’ performances in their win over Udinese.

Inter really struggled against an inspired Udinese side but did manage to get a 2-0 win in the end with thanks to a brace from club record signing and current top goalscorer for the season, Romelu Lukaku.

“As soon as Eriksen went off, Inter began to win. He did not play as everyone expected. Young was very good as were all of the Nerazzurri’s central defenders against Udinese, who were dangerous,” he started.

“When Alexis Sanchez came on, he made a difference whilst Sebastiano Esposito did not do well but he will certainly give Inter a lot in the future.”

Costacurta, who spent all barring one season of his 21 year playing career with AC Milan, then shared his thoughts on the Serie A title race.

Juventus currently lead the way at the top with 54 points to their name as they chase their ninth straight league title but they have Inter and Lazio right behind them on 51 and 49 points respectively.

“For me Juve is ahead of all, but Inter must be careful with this Lazio side.”

Costacurta also spoke on what he expects from Inter in the other competitions they are in with Antonio Conte’s side in the semi finals of the Coppa Italia and the last 32 of the Europa League.

“I think the Nerazzurri will continue in both the Italian Cup and the Europa League, for the second place it will be a good fight.”
