Lautaro Martinez has told Manchester United he does not wish to join them due to preferring the idea of a move to Barcelona instead according to a report from British news outlet The Express.

The Red Devils had identified the Inter striker as a possible target for the Summer transfer window but it looks like they will now have to turn their attention elsewhere with it looking highly likely that they will be unable to sign the 22-year-old.

Lautaro has drawn links to Barcelona as well as United’s rivals Manchester City as well as Chelsea and Real Madrid in recent weeks.

The Argentine international striker has been in fine form this season, his first at Inter as a regular starter, having scored 16 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions to date.

Lautaro joined Inter in a circa €20 million deal from Superliga Argentina side Racing Club in the Summer of 2017 and is under contract with Inter until 2023.
