Samir Handanovic trained again today but did not do any work with the ball according to a report from the online edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Inter captain and number one goalkeeper is currently dealing with a hairline fracture to one of his fingers and is trying everything possible to ensure he is available for this weekend’s Milan derby.

A protective brace has been prepared although it will not entirely protect the 35-year-old and for this reason any decision on whether he will play has been put on hold.

There are two factors currently weighing on the decision as things stand. The first factor is Inter’s busy schedule which will see them face nine games in 29 days starting with Sunday’s match and Inter obviously do not wish to lose Handanovic for it by rushing him back and worsening his injury.

The second factor is Handanovic himself who is pushing Antonio Conte to be deployed as a starter against the Rossoneri.
