Samir Handanovic is refusing to give up in his attempts to be available to play in this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina with AC Milan according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

The 35-year-old Slovenian international goalkeeper, who is Inter’s captain, sustained a hairline fracture to one of his fingers in training a week ago and although such an injury should typically be followed by three to four weeks on the sidelines, Handanovic is trying everything he can to make himself available for Sunday night’s match at San Siro.

The report goes on to add that as things stand, Daniele Padelli is still the favourite to start in between the sticks for the Nerazzurri against the Rossoneri.

The 34-year-old made his Serie A debut for Inter in last weekend’s 2-0 win away to Udinese and looks more than likely to be given his second consecutive start this weekend too.
