Former Inter forward Pietro Fanna discussed the derby between Inter and AC Milan tomorrow as well as the Nerazzurri’s moves in the transfer market in an interview with Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

“Conte’s team is back and I hope they’re the favourites on Sunday night. On the market they looked for what they wanted and there was, in fact, the need of reinforcements. The team that’s building themselves on the pitch and off is strong. And if you want to aspire to the highest levels it must be just so.”

The 61-year-old Italian then spoke about Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen and what he will bring to the team.

“At Udine I thought he would make more of an impact. But you can’t judge from one side and Conte knows him well, so he’ll certainly have a chance to grow up and settle in well. I hope for the good of the league that Inter can beat Milan and that they can fight for the Scudetto until the end. It would be good for the league.”

Inter are currently 2nd in the league after 22 games, three points behind rivals and league leaders Juventus and one point ahead of 3rd place Lazio. The Nerazzurri have drawn three out of their last five games, winning the other two. They have achieved nine points since the start of the new year, two less than the Rossoneri.

AC Milan are 9th in the league but have been experiencing a period of incredibly strong form since the arrival of Swedish veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic. They have earnt 11 points since the start of the year, under the guidance of coach Stefano Pioli.
