Inter could look to sign Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal in the summer, in order to fully strengthen their midfield, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri were keen to sign the 32-year-old Chilean midfielder in last month’s transfer window, but a deal never materialised as the Blaugrana weren’t keen to let the player leave. Vidal’s contract expires with the Catalan club in the summer of 2021.

The idea of Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio, the report continues, is to deploy both Christian Eriksen and Arturo Vidal at the same time, making the Nerazzurri’s midfield one of the most fearsome in the league.

Vidal has made 25 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1088 minutes. In that time, he has scored six goals and provided two assists, struggling to earn consistent playing time under previous coach Ernesto Valverde.
