AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie was subjected to racist abuse during last night’s Milan derby according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.
Having fouled Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella around the hour mark, racist chants were directed at the Ivorian international with the chants, which only lasted for a few seconds before ceasing, understood to have come from Inter’s Curva Nord.
This is not the first time that Kessie has been targeted for racist abuse this season with him also being subjected to it earlier on in the season when AC Milan played away to Hellas Verona.
It now remains to be seen if Inter will face any sort of punishment for these chants. Inter have been punished in the past for racist chants after Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly was subjected to racism by a portion of Inter’s support in December 2018. On that occasion, Inter were hit with a fine and a stadium ban.
