Sconcerti: “Inter Are No Longer A Surprise, There Was A Desire Of Champions In Their Comeback”

Noted Italian football journalist Mario Sconcerti has reflected upon last night’s Derby della Madonnina between Inter and AC Milan as part of his latest column in today’s print edition of Corriere della Sera.

AC Milan took the lead through Ante Rebic five minutes before half time and Zlatan Ibrahimovic doubled the visiting Rossoneri’s lead on the stroke of half time to give them a very much deserved 2-0 lead heading into the half time interval at San Siro.

The game however completely flipped on its head in the second half and Inter came racing out of the blocks and had tied things up within 10 minutes thanks to goals from Marcelo Brozovic and Matias Vecino.

Stefan de Vrij gave Inter their first lead of the match on the 70th minute mark and Romelu Lukaku put the game beyond doubt in injury time to give Inter a 4-2 victory that has put them back top of the Serie A table.

“Inter are back at the top of the league together with Juve, but this time it is different. The many prejudices against Inter have gone away, it is no longer a surprise,” Sconcerti began his piece in the Milanese newspaper.

“There was the desire of champions in their comeback. Brozovic started it with a miss-hit shot but none of the goals Inter scored were trivial.

“The game simply changed, Inter played football and gradually swept their opponents away. Even Lukaku, who had never really been in the game scored a goal.”
