Inter centre back Alessandro Bastoni has admitted that he and his teammates want to win Inter their first silverware in a number of years ahead of their Coppa Italia semi final first leg match up with Napoli, which is due to kick off just shortly.

Inter have a decorated history and are one of Italy’s most successful clubs but the Nerazzuri have not lifted a trophy aloft since winning the Coppa Italia in the 2010/11 season.

The Nerazzurri are currently competing on three fronts and appear to have their best chance at winning something come the end of the season for a number of years with thanks to Antonio Conte being in charge and several big name players being brought in this season including Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen.

“We have a great desire to win trophies for the club who have not done so for several years,” the Italian youth international defender explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV.

He then spoke on this past Sunday’s Milan derby win over AC Milan, which he was suspended for.

“It is very difficult to stay off the pitch. The first half was hard but there was a lot of pleasure in the second half. It is not easy to not be on the pitch so I am happy to be available again today.”

He concluded the interview with Inter TV by speaking on tonight’s opponents: “Napoli are a team with great attackers. We will do everything to stop Napoli.”

In an interview with Italian broadcaster Rai Sport he added: “The Coppa Italia is certainly one of our goals, we must do well here. We must not underestimate the game, there is a lot of enthusiasm.

“We know that Napoli are a great team and we are ready to face whatever line-up Napoli play, Dries Mertens and Arkadiusz Milik are both great players and we must be careful.”
