In an interview with FCInterNews.it, Horacio Gaggioli, the former agent of Lionel Messi, has shared his belief that his former client will not leave Barcelona.

Reports in Italian, Spanish and Argentine media in recent weeks have suggested that the multi-time world player of the year could leave the Blaugrana after some tension with club sporting director Eric Abidal.

Messi has spent his entire career on the books of the reigning Spanish champions and is understood to have a clause in his contract which allows him to free himself in June although it has been reported by some outlets that he can only use this clause to secure a move to a non-top five league.

“In football, everything is possible. But I have many doubts that Messi wants to leave Barcelona. Leo knows that in this club, with this system and the players who have accompanied him to this day, he has grown up. If he were to leave, he would not be the same player,” he explained.

Gaggioli, who has Real Madrid’s Marcos Asensio among his clientele these days, was then asked if former Inter president Massimo Moratti made an enquiry about Messi when he was younger and still in Barcelona’s academy.

“Is it true that Moratti’s enquired about him? When he was little, there was no club that didn’t call me. Everyone did.”
