Legendary Italian football manager Fabio Capello has sang the praises of Inter striker Lautaro Martinez amid reports suggesting Barcelona and Real Madrid are vying to sign him.

The young Argentine national team forward has caught the eyes of several clubs with thanks to his performances in a Nerazzurri shirt this season and has now clubs lining up trying to sign him.

Speaking during the Bilbao International Football Summit earlier on today, Capello revealed that he has been a fan of the 22-year-old for some time.

“I like him very much. He works hard and is mentally strong. He reminds me of Luis Suarez in the way he runs and he has similar qualities to him too,” he started.

“Up until a few months ago many of my colleagues criticised Lautaro and said that everything he did was wrong and that he could not convert his chances.

“I saw things differently. I have always thought he was very good because he was always in the right places at the right time, the chances he was getting do not happen by chance. Nowadays many people think that Lautaro is an excellent player.”

Lautaro Martinez joined Inter in the Summer of 2018 from Superliga Argentina side Racing Club in a circa €20 million deal.

He struggled for regular playing time in his first season with the club but following the departure of Mauro Icardi, he has found himself being one of the first names on manager Antonio Conte’s team sheet pretty much every game.

In 28 appearances across all competitions this term, he has scored 16 goals.
