Daniele Padelli’s agent Silvano Martina has shared his belief that his client came in for some undue criticism following Sunday night’s Derby della Madonnina win over AC Milan.

Padelli was judged by many to have been at fault for both of the goals that Inter conceded in the match and he came in for some strong criticism by fans on social media who doubted his ability to be the Nerazzuri’s back up goalkeeper.

Padelli has been deputising for Inter number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic for the past few games after the 35-year-old Slovenian international shot-stopper sustained a hairline fracture to the small finger in his left hand.

Handanovic is not expected back until at least the end of this month and Padelli therefore looks set to play some more games in the coming weeks.

“He did not deserve the massacre he received after the derby,” Martina insisted in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

Martina also spoke on the reports that Inter are looking at bringing in free agent goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.

“If Viviano arrives, he will be the deputy to Daniele.”
