Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso has shared his delight at the progress his team have made in the past month since their heavy loss to Inter after beating them in last night Coppa Italia semi final first leg.

A Fabian Ruiz strike that came just before the hour mark proved to be enough to give the visiting Partenopei a 1-0 victory at San Siro and the advantage in the two legged tie, the second leg of which is to take place at the beginning of next month at Napoli’s Stadio San Paolo.

The winner of the tie will qualify for the final which is to take place at the Stadio Olimpico in May. Whoever wins the tie will face either Juventus or AC Milan in the final.

Gattuso, who took the reigns of Napoli a few months back, spoke with Inter official club broadcaster Inter TV after the match and had the following to say.

“A month ago Inter put us in great difficulty. They are a team that combines technique and quality. We were good, sometimes even lucky during the match,” he began.

“Inter are a great team, it is no coincidence that they are where they are. They have signed quality players. It went good today [last night], but we know it will be very difficult at the San Paolo.”
