Legendary Inter striker Roberto Boninsegna has admitted that he was wrong in his initial judgement of Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian international striker joined Inter in the Summer transfer window from Manchester United in what was a club record transfer deal for Inter.
Since his arrival at the club, the 26-year-old has scored goals for fun and set several records in the process, including the record for the player to hit 20 goals for the club in the least amount of games.
In 31 games across all competitions Lukaku has netted 21 goals and has also provided four assists for his Nerazzurri teammates.
“I have to say that Romelu Lukaku amazed me a lot, I was sceptical when Inter bought the Belgian centre forward, but he is strong, really strong in fact. He has a beastly physique,” Boninsegna, who spent seven years with Inter between 1969 and 1976, admitted in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli earlier on today.
Boninsegna also spoke on Inter’s Coppa Italia semi final first leg loss to Napoli last night which was in fact just Inter’s second loss in domestic competitions all season.
“Napoli played a smart match in true Italian style. I have seen Napoli play several times this season and they have lost due to some sensational errors especially defensive ones but yesterday against Inter they were very careful.”
