Former Inter Coach Gian Piero Gasperini believes “anything could happen” in the Scudetto race this season.

The Nerazzurri are level with Juve at the top of Serie A, with Lazio only a point behind in third place.

This weekend could be crucial in determining where the title will end up, with the Nerazzurri travelling to Rome just hours after Juve face Brescia away.

The Bianconeri have managed just one win in four games and lost to Verona last weekend to allow Inter to go top of the table, while Lazio have won 13 of their last 15 in Serie A.

Gasperini’s Atalanta side were the revelation of last season and have scored more than anyone in the Italian top flight this term.

In an interview with Sportweek he was asked about this season’s title race and the former Inter boss believes it’s too close to call.

“Everyone – myself included – think that Juventus are the strongest team in the league because of the depth of their squad,” Gasperini said.

“They’re coming off eight titles in a row and therefore some think that the ending is already written.

“But if we go into the last 10 games with the league table like it is now then I think anything could happen.

“Lazio have had 10 wins in a row and Inter had an extraordinary first half to the season and are genuine contenders.

“Inter have strengthened a lot from the January transfer window, so we’ll see. I’d say that a lot is possible, the league is wide open.

“There are 15 games left and what’s new is that now the contenders have taken confidence, they believe they can do it.”

Gasperini also opened up on his time with Inter, which saw him sacked after four defeats in his five games in charge.

“My best moment is definitely the current one, the worst was Inter.

“At the time it was hard but it was an experience that I overcame. Inter brought me nothing, neither positively or negatively. In short, it was three weeks.

“At the time I suffered but I don’t bear any grudges. In fact, I feel satisfaction that when I go to San Siro people welcome me with sympathy and affection.

“That’s what counts for me.”
