For a brief few minutes Inter were beating Lazio and the mood in the locker room at half time must have been pretty good. However, the tiredness began to show and a mistake by Skriniar and Padelli allowed Rocchi to give Lazio their 14th penalty in Serie A this season.

The wind was knocked out of Inter’s sails and none other than long rumored target Milinkovic-Savic scored what proved to be the game winner. Lets see how Inter did:

Daniele Padelli – 4.5: The softest penalty and a placed Milinkovic shot beat him. That save off Immobile was the only positive. Hopefully Handanovic will recover quickly.

Diego Godin – 6.5: Experience was needed in games like tonight and Diego did well. A couple of giveaways on his birthday but overall a very good performance.

Stefan de Vrij – 6.5: In his first game back at the Olimpico since making the move, Stefan was booed and jeered. That inspired him to continue being the defensive leader.

Milan Skriniar – 5.5: Milinkovic-Savic gave him some trouble in the air throughout the game, making him change his sides with Godin. Partially at fault for the penalty conceded.

Antonio Candreva – 6.5: Absolutely top drawer performance from Candreva. Almost spot on with every decision with or without the ball. Ran out of steam in the 2nd half.

Matias Vecino – 6: Looks much better after the failed transfer. Made the ball count and has cut down on the errors even when the chips were down. Positive game.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6 : Continued his form from the Derby. Defended well, countered brilliantly and controlled the midfield. Just like Candreva had no energy after half time.

Nicolo Barella – 5.5: On a different wavelength than Lukaku throughout the match. Nothing Nico did in attack came off. Did his defensive duties very well. Positioning was also spot on.

Ashley Young – 7: His flank was the one Lazio attacked a bit but with Skriniar he kept it quiet. In the right position to gobble up the rebound. He’s made that spot his own.

Lautaro Martinez – 5: Lautaro was missing for major parts of the game. Yes, he was helping the midfield out but the standards he’s set this season weren’t met at all.

Romelu Lukaku – 5.5: Tactically very, very astute. To see him back covering for Candreva is a great sight. However needs to be more cynical. Had 2 decent chances to score.

Victor Moses – 5.5: Hardly got involved in the game. Hit a couple of crosses more in hope than anything else. Maybe needed to come on earlier when Lazio were deeper.

Christian Eriksen – 5.5: Replaced Brozovic but played as a classic number 10. Lazio flooded the area and made it difficult. Still managed to get a save out of Strakosha that led to an offside.

Alexis Sanchez – N/A: All Alexis got was 5 minutes or so. Again involved a lot but could not produce anything to trouble the Lazio defence. Didn’t stop running.

Antonio Conte – 4.5: Played almost the entire starting line up in the Coppa midweek, then refused to make any subs once Lazio equalized. Game plan worked only in the first half.

Gianluca Rocchi – 3.5: Not the best of referees as we’ve seen in the past decade but the first half was fair and just, or more correctly put, he was equally awful to both teams. Decided to become the difference maker against Inter, yet again.

Inter – 5: Inter had a very good first half and things went according to plan. The penalty knocked the wind out of the sails but Handanovic is being missed.
