Former Atalanta striker Simone Tiribocchi has shared his belief that Christian Eriksen will become a leader at Inter despite the difficult start he has had to life at the Nerazzurri.

Eriksen joined Inter during the recent January transfer window from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth around €20 million on a four and a half year deal.

The recently turned 28-year-old Danish international attacking midfielder has played in all five of the games Inter have played since his arrival but his overall time on the pitch has been nowhere near as much as everyone expected it to be.

The former Ajax player has made just one start and been on the pitch for a total of 137 minutes which has led to many questioning why Inter even bought him in the first place if they were not willing to play a player of his calibre all the time.

Tiribocchi sees it differently however and believes that for the time being Inter manager Antonio Conte is quite simply protecting the player and taking great care with how he uses him.

“I think he is a great quality footballer. In order for him to express that, you need to know how to play him. In my opinion Conte is protecting him for now but Eriksen will become Inter’s leader. Conte will have to build the right midfield for him,” Tiribocchi said in an interview with Italian radio station TMW Radio last night.
