AC Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis spoke about the San Siro and the two Milanese clubs’ need for a new home in an interview in today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We must have our own modern stadium, I love the San Siro, it’s part of my football mythology, but I also have respect for the growth and development of Milan and its next generations of fans.”

Gazidis then spoke about the importance of a new stadium to both AC Milan and Inter.

“A new stadium is indispensable for a great AC Milan. Words that will undoubtedly be shared by Inter as well, who for months have been having conversations with the Rossoneri about the new stadium.”

Inter and AC Milan have both been working to build a new stadium and leave their historic home, the San Siro. Initially the club’s proposed two different projects for fans to vote for, but both projects required the demolishing of the San Siro. The idea of demolition was shot down by the City Council, who highlighted the importance and culture of the historic stadium.

Both clubs are now working to present an alternative project, that allows for the existing San Siro stadium to be renovated. Inter and AC Milan are also working to secure the land rights straight away, rather than waiting to pay the required fees.
