Italian journalist and Inter fan Fabrizio Biasin discussed the title race and the Nerazzurri’s work in the January transfer window in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Sportiva earlier today.

“Juventus thought about Conte and there was also a phone call between the parties, but at the beginning of April Conte had already given his word to Inter and therefore rejected the advances.”

The journalist then highlighted how the Nerazzurri should focus on all competitions, rather than focusing on the league specifically.

“You can’t bet on one competition over another, the example is Sarri’s Napoli who won neither the Scudetto nor the Europa League. Inter have a competitive squad and must bet on all fronts without any fear.”

Biasin also spoke about Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen, and his first goal for Inter that was scored against Ludogorets in the Europa League earlier this week.

“He’ll soon become a strong point of Inter, I believe in the role of the mezzala. Surely Conte wanted Vidal, but if instead of Vidal comes a different midfielder with superior qualities like Eriksen, Conte doesn’t have a tantrum but tries to fit him in the best possible way. It’s only been three weeks since Eriksen arrived, you can’t say now that he doesn’t have room. For me, from now on, he becomes a starter, if a player is strong, there’s no problem.”

Finally, Biasin touched on Barcelona’s interest in Inter striker Lautaro Martinez.

“There is probably a contact between the parties, but from here it’s not possible to say that it will definitely happen.”

Inter are currently 3rd in the league table after 24 games, sitting three points behind rivals and league leaders Juventus. The two teams will meet in the upcoming Derby d’Italia at the start of March. The team have been completely transformed by coach Antonio Conte, with new arrivals such as Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku quickly leading the line for the Milanese club.
