Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang doesn’t seem close to renewing his contract with the North London club, with Inter opening up to the idea of a possible deal for the player, according to a report from Italian media outlet FcInterNews today.

The report details how the 30-year-old Gabonese striker’s contract with the Gunners expires in June of 2021 and the negotiations for an extension collapsed. The North London club want at least €40 million for the player, who will be 31 by the summer transfer window.

Aubameyang himself would gladly return to Italy, spending time with AC Milan before being sold to French side Saint-Étienne in 2011. Both Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio are fans of the player and wanted him in the past.

Inter may look to sign Aubameyang if Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez is sold in the summer transfer window, the report continues. The player tactically would be a perfect fit with 26-year-old Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku. First conversations between Inter, Arsenal and Aubameyang have taken place and there’s a willingness to negotiate.
