Lega Serie A bosses have sent a formal letter to the Italian government asking for them to give the go ahead for Serie A to continue to be played albeit behind closed doors amid the Coronavirus outbreak in the country according to a report from Italian news agency ANSA.

Coronavirus has affected several regions in Italy since the outbreak began a few days ago with there being over 200 confirmed cases and a number of deaths also.

No less than four Serie A matches this past weekend were postponed with Inter’s match at home to Sampdoria among them.

A lot of doubt has been cast over upcoming fixtures and whether they will still go ahead as planned but the Lega Serie A appear to want the show to go on even if it means doing so without having fans in the stands cheering their teams on in order to limit the potential spread.

The reason for this is because there is a lack of time for games to be mass postponed and re-scheduled due to the fact the Lega Serie A want Serie A to be finished on May 24 in order to give participating players enough time to rest and train ahead of the European Championship’s.
