Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has identified several possible Summer transfer window targets for the defence according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.
Starting with centre backs, Marotta has set his sights on Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen. The experienced Belgian international’s contract with the north London based Premier League club is due to expire at the end of the season thus meaning he could be signed on a free transfer in the Summer.
Marotta is also understood to be a fan of Hellas Verona’s young talent Marash Kumbulla, who has been one of the biggest revelations in Serie A this season.
The Gialloblu club are understood to value him at €30 million but Inter might be able to reduce the price by offering some players as part of a deal, possibly Eddie Salcedo and Federico Dimarco, who are both already on loan at them from Inter.
Inter are also looking to bolster the wing back department. Ashley Young, Antonio Candreva and Danilo D’Ambrosio are the only ones certain to stay and Marotta wants to strengthen on the left in particular.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic and Chelsea duo Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso are all believed to be targets.
