As part of an interview with Inter’s official Matchday Programme for tonight’s match against Ludogorets, Inter January transfer window recruit Ashley Young has discussed all the positional changes he has went through during his playing career with him having played in every position other than goalkeeper.

“In my career I have been able to change and reinvent myself several times. I started out as a striker then became a winger and now I find myself playing at full back.

“I have had many managers who have understand that I can play in different positions on the pitch. To be able to play in all these different positions I have needed football intelligence and physical skill.”

He then spoke on his long standing love for Italian football and shared his desire to write his name into the Inter history books whilst he is with the club.

“I have always watched Italian football matches since I was a child and the league has always intrigued me. I always asked myself if one day I would have the opportunity to play in Italy and here I am.

“I think of all the players who have worn this shirt before me and all the trophies this club have won and I would love to be part of the club’s great history. Having spent 14 years in the Premier League, I have brought all my experience here.”

Young joined Inter for a nominal fee from Manchester United little over a month ago on an initial six month contract that has an optional year attached to it and he has got off to a good start in the Nerazzurri shirt.

Since his arrival, the experienced 39-time England international, has appeared in all barring one of the seven games Inter have played. In 459 minutes on the park, Young has scored one goal and provided a single assist for his new teammates too.
