Barcelona are willing to pay more than Lautaro Martinez’s release clause in his Inter contract to ensure that they sign him ahead of other clubs who are interested in him according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The €111 million release clause, which is only valid for the first two weeks of every July, must be paid immediately but Barcelona would prefer to spread the cost of a move for the Argentine national team striker over three or four years instead.

Things are only at a preliminary stage but it is clear that Barcelona are pushing more than anyone else to sign the highly rated 22-year-old, who they see as the long term replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez.

Lautaro joined Inter in the Summer of 2018 in a circa €20 million deal and has completely exploded this season with him having scored 16 goals and tallied four assists in 30 appearances across all competitions.
