Inter manager Antonio Conte shared his delight at the reaction his team showed after going surprisingly behind in Thursday night’s win at home to Ludogorets in the second leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie.

Cauly out-muscled Diego Godin and finished well past Daniele Padelli to give the visitors an unlikely lead but the lead did not last long as Cristiano Biraghi drew Inter back level minutes later. Shortly after that Romelu Lukaku put Inter ahead and the game would finish 2-1.

Inter won the tie against the reigning Bulgarian champions 4-1 on aggregate and are now in the hat for the round of 16 draw that could see them face the likes of Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen and FC Basel.

“It is never easy, even if we came into the match off the back of a good result in the first leg. We found ourselves behind but there was a good reaction from us to put things back in place. I am happy that we managed to get through to the next round,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV.

He was then asked how he stimulated the side in the lead up to tonight’s match and was quick to heap praise on the players he is working with at the club.

“I have to say, honestly, that I have the opportunity to work with a group of very serious and professional guys. They don’t need to have any extra stimulation. They know very well that when you wear a prestigious shirt like that of Inter, you have to honour it.”
