Inter are furious with Lega Serie A’s decision to postpone tonight’s Derby d’Italia against Juventus, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The report details how the Turin based club are happy with the decision to postpone the game. Not only has it saved them €5 million in ticket revenue, it also has allowed the club to avoid playing their title rivals, important considering their disappointing form of late.

The postponement of the Derby d’Italia has forced the League to reshape the calendar, the report continues, moving the five postponed matches to 13th May, the day that the Coppa Italia final was supposed to be played. The final will now be played on 20th May in Milan, as UEFA needs the Stadio Olimpico from that day onwards for the European Championships.

If Inter were to reach both the Europa League final and the Coppa Italia final, the report highlights, then there would be no available date to play Sampdoria. Today a decision could be made about the fates of the games next weekend, like Atalanta’s clash against Lazio and Inter’s game against Sassuolo, as the League considers playing the games behind closed doors. Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has asked and obtained an informal League council conference call for tomorrow.
