The date of Inter’s Derby d’Italia could be played earlier than 13th May, depending on the progress the two sides make in Europe, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the game has now been postponed to 13th May, the date originally set for the Coppa Italia final. If both clubs drop out of European competition early, then the game could be played in the mid-week slot before May. Inter still don’t have a date set for their delayed game against Sampdoria, meaning that it could be played very late in the season unless the Nerazzurri drop out of cup competitions.

It’s unclear what will happen next weekend, the report continues. Next weekend, the ban on events open to the public will still be in force in Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia Romagna. This puts many games at risk of being delayed to Monday, such as Inter’s home game against Sassuolo and Bologna’s game against Juventus. Atalanta’s game couldn’t be played on Monday due to their Champions League game on Tuesday.
