Sassuolo chairman Giovanni Carnevali discussed the position of the Neroverde and the postponed games in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Rai earlier today.

“This is a very confusing situation, we are living in an emergency and we need to be very serious about it. First of all, the health of the people, the fans and the insiders themselves must be safeguarded, but lately there has been too much confusion.”

Carnevali then spoke about the fight between Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and Lega Serie A president Paolo Dal Pino.

“Many clubs believe that the behaviour of the League in these days has not been right, there is not only the issue of Beppe Marotta and Paolo Dal Pino. I agree with the President of the League when he says that we need to promote Italian football abroad and that broadcasting a game behind closed doors does not give a good image, but at the same time we would have had the opportunity to offer some lightness to all the people who have locked themselves in. I’m not just talking about Juventus v Inter, there are many other teams in our league and we need respect for everyone.”

Inter’s league clash against the Bianconeri has now been postponed to the 13th May, the date originally set for the Coppa Italia final. The game will now have to be pushed back a week to the 20th May, and the venue will be changed to the San Siro, as UEFA need the Stadio Olimpico from the 20th May onwards in order to prepare for the upcoming European Championships.

Inter still don’t have a date set for their postponed game against Sampdoria, worrying considering their already packed calendar. An early departure from the Europa League or the Coppa Italia could see the game be played earlier.
