18 of 20 Serie A clubs have backed Lega Serie A plans to hold the postponed fixtures from last weekend this coming weekend according to a report in today’s print edition of La Repubblica.

A total of five Serie A fixtures were postponed as a result of the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic in Italy, including the Derby D’Italia between Juventus and Inter.

The match was due to take place on Sunday at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. A decision was initially taken that would have seen the game played behind closed doors before the Lega Serie A made a complete u-turn and decided to postpone it entirely.

They then proposed the idea of playing it yesterday but Inter rejected this idea due to their Coppa Italia commitments during this week.

Lega Serie A president Paolo Dal Pino has called round the presidents in the league and 18 of them have backed his idea as described above however Inter and Napoli are against these plans.

As per the report, an official announcement on the matter should be made tomorrow by league officials.
