Vincenzo Spadafora, the Italian government minister of sport, has confirmed that the government are likely to order that all Serie A matches are to be played behind closed doors for the next month.

A total of nine Serie A fixtures have been postponed in the past weeks due to the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic in the country and in the past two days both of the Coppa Italia semi final second legs have been postponed as well.

The postponements have created great confusion and uncertainty with some clubs unsure when they will be playing these postponed fixtures.

With the Coppa Italia semi final postponement, three of Inter’s last four scheduled matches have been postponed and as things stand, finding new dates for these games will be very difficult due to Inter’s ongoing participation in the Europa League.

“We are heading towards that [playing games behind closed doors without fans] decision. We will continue all activities, and so will the league, but we will respect public health,” Spadafora explained to reporters outside the Italian government’s headquarters in Rome, as quoted by Sky Sports News.
