Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reiterated his desire to keep a hold of club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng at all costs as doubts remain over the Gabonese forward’s future with the club.
Aubameyang has little over a year left on his current contract with the north London club and several reports in recent months have suggested that he has no interest in signing a contract extension with the club.
As a result, it is understood that both Inter and Barcelona have sparked an interest in signing him.
“We will see the intentions that we have, his intentions, and where we are sitting at that moment. I think it’s difficult to predict that context right now. For me, it’s very easy, I want to keep him in any circumstances,” Arteta, who succeeded Unai Emery as manager of the Gunners in the past few months, told the gathered media at his pre-match press conference ahead of their Premier League encounter with West Ham United this coming weekend.
This season the 30-year-old striker, who joined Arsenal in January 2018 from Borussia Dortmund, has made 30 appearances across all competitions. In just over 2600 minutes on the field, he has netted 21 goals and tallied a single assist.
