In an interview with Tuttosport, legendary Italian football manager Fabio Capello has shared some thoughts ahead of this weekend’s Derby D’Italia between Juventus and Inter.

He started by discussing the almost certain return of Samir Handanovic in goals for Inter with him now having fully recovered from a hand injury that caused him to miss Inter’s last six matches.

“The Nerazzurri will recover Handanovic and that is no small matter. His presence is fundamental for the defence and the team as a whole,” he said in the interview which appeared in the print edition of the Turin newspaper.

He proceeded to discuss the mental state that Juventus have coming into the match at the Allianz Stadium in Turin which will be played behind closed doors due to concerns relating to Coronavirus with him focusing specifically on Cristiano Ronaldo whose mother is unwell.

“Juventus have not had time to recover psychologically from the defeat against Lyon. It would have been better for them to return to the field immediately to try to overcome a difficult period.

“In addition, Juventus has Cristiano Ronaldo struggling with his mother’s problems. He is a decisive player and a professional, but not a machine and such things can have an affect.

“Juventus in my opinion have got worse, but Inter is at risk. A defeat in this match could cut them out of the Scudetto fight.”

Former AC Milan manager Capello, who last managed Inter’s sister side, Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning, then went on to state which of the two teams he believes have the better personnel.

“Individually Juventus is stronger. However, Inter have more players than in the first leg. They have recovered Sanchez and now have Eriksen, even if he is still trying to complete his adaption.”
