Legendary Inter striker Hernan Crespo has shared his hopes to see compatriot Lautaro Martinez remain with the club for a few more years yet.

For a good few months now Lautaro has drawn strong links with clubs elsewhere, especially Barcelona, who are understood to see him as the long term replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez.

Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United have all also been linked with the 22-year-old striker who has a €111 million release clause in his current contract with the club, which runs until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Some reports have recently suggested that Inter want to sign him to a new and improved deal in a bid to deter the interest from elsewhere and a new deal could see the release clause removed.

“I would like him to stay a bit longer at Inter because I have an affection for the Nerazzurri,” Crespo, who is the current manager of Superliga Argentina side Defensa y Justicia, told Argentine broadcaster Fox Sports earlier on today.

“He started playing this year because Icardi left and he has exploded. I would like for him to stay a little longer, perhaps two or three years.”
