European football’s governing body UEFA have officially confirmed that Inter’s upcoming Europa League last 16 clash with Getafe is to be played behind closed doors through way of an official statement on their website.

This decision comes as a direct result of the ongoing concern related to the Coronavirus outbreak in the two countries. Italy now has in excess of 3200 confirmed cases whilst Spain have almost 250 confirmed cases of their own.

The first leg of the match is due to take place on March 12 at Inter’s San Siro and the return leg will take place the following week at Getafe’s Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium although it is as yet unclear whether that will be played behind closed doors or not.

UEFA have also confirmed that the first leg of UEFA Champions League last 16 tie between Valencia and Atalanta at the Estadio de Mestalla is to be played behind closed doors too.
