Inter are interested in signing Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen on a free transfer in the summer, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how the 32-year-old Belgian defender’s contract expires with Spurs at the end of this season, with a contract renewal not looking likely. The player is fully comfortable in a three-man defense and is friends with Inter striker Romelu Lukaku, who could be instrumental in convincing Vertonghen to sign for the Milanese club.

Inter coach Antonio Conte is incredibly keen to reinforce the squad as much as possible in the summer, the report continues, in order to achieve an increasingly competitive squad. Vertonghen has made 25 appearances across all competitions so far this season for the North London club, for a total of 2061 minutes. In that time, he’s scored two goals, provided one assist and help the side keep four clean sheets.
