Inter are preparing for a future that Lautaro Martinez will be sold to a Spanish club, paying attention to German striker Timo Werner, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

The report details how the 22-year-old Argentine striker is wanted by both Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Catalan club are ready to sign the player from Inter by offering a slightly higher fee but spread out over a few years. The Nerazzurri have no intention of being caught without a replacement should Lautaro leave this summer, and so have begun following RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

The German forward was also considered an alternative to Lautaro for Barcelona, the report continues, should they have failed to sign the 22-year-old. Werner has a very affordable price of €60 million, cheaper than Lautaro’s €111 million release clause. The battle over the two strikers is likely to last the whole summer as both sides look to come out on top.
