Inter linked striker Olivier Giroud has decided that he wants to extend his current contract with Chelsea, according to today’s paper edition of the London based newspaper the Evening Standard.

The report details how the 33-year-old French striker, whose current contract expires with the West London club at the end of this season, has decided that he wants to sign a contract renewal with the club, rather than leaving on a free transfer in the summer.

The player was heavily linked to Inter in the January transfer window earlier this year, the report continues, with some suggesting that a deal had even been agreed, before the Christian Eriksen deal caused focus to turn elsewhere. Lazio were also linked with the 2018 World Cup winner, but a deal never materialised in time.

Giroud has recently found more playing time under coach Frank Lampard, making three consecutive league appearances in February, as well as playing a full 90 minutes in the FA Cup win over Liverpool.
