The Italian government has drafted a new decree that has included a ban on entering and leaving 12 provinces in Italy, including Lombardy, according to a report from Italian media outlet FcInterNews today.

The report details how there has been a surge in positive cases of the Coronavirus across Northern Italy, with the Lombardy region in particular appealing for help in containing the contagion. The government have responded by creating a new decree, with Article 1 discussing the ban on entering and leaving the following 11 provinces: Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia, Rimini, Pesaro and Urbino, Venice, Padua, Treviso, Asti and Alessandria, as well as Lombardy.

It is unclear whether the decree will have an effect on football, the report continues, or whether there will be an exception for sports clubs. Inter are due to play Juventus tomorrow evening behind closed doors at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, although there are now fears that the game may have to be called off.
