The president of the AIC, the Italian football players union, Damiano Tommasi, has insisted on Twitter that Italian football should be stopped, rather than playing the games behind closed doors.

The 45-year-old Italian, who is the president of the Italian Footballers’ Association, has insisted that Serie A games should be postponed indefinitely, until the Coronavirus emergency has been dealt with, rather than playing the games behind closed doors.

Tommasi wrote on Twitter this morning: “This morning I wrote to Giuseppe Conte, Vincenzo Spadafora, Gio Malago, Gravina, Paolo Dal Pino, Balata Mauro, Francesco Ghire. Stopping football is the most useful act for the country right now. The teams to cheer on are playing in our hospitals, in emergency locations.”
