The Italian government have given the green light for European competitions matches to proceed as planned just hours on from confirming all sporting activity would be suspended in the country until further notice.
Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte confirmed that all sports would be suspended in a bid to contain the Coronavirus outbreak the country is dealing with which led to concerns over what this order would mean for Juventus, Inter and Roma, all of whom have Champions League and Europa League home matches coming up.
Part of the new decree allows for sporting events organised by international organisations to still take place as planned on the basis that they are played behind closed doors thus meaning Inter’s match versus Getafe this coming Thursday will be played at an empty San Siro.
Whilst there is now clarity over European competition matches, it still remains to be seen quite what will happen with all the Serie A matches that have now been postponed.
