Samir Handanovic is set to sign a one year contract extension with Inter according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.
The current Inter captain and number one goalkeeper is currently under contract with the club until the end of next season thus meaning a one year extension would take his contract expiry date to end of June 2022.
The 35-year-old returned to action this past weekend following a hairline fracture to the small finger in his left hand, an injury which caused him to miss six games.
In his absence, Daniele Padelli deputised for him but the report from the Rome based newspaper goes on to state that Handanovic will have a new back-up goalkeeper behind him next term.
Padelli will be demoted to third choice goalkeeper, taking over from Tomasso Berni, and Ionut Andrei Radu will become the second choice.
Radu is quite highly rated and is currently out on loan at fellow Serie A side Parma. He joined the Ducali in the January transfer window but is still waiting to make his first appearance for them.
